The White Rose is a beautiful, touching piece that deals with honor, freedom, choices and survival.

In 1942, a group of students at the University of Munich decided to actively protest the atrocities of the Nazi regime and to advocate that Germany lose the war as the only way to get rid on Hitler and his cohorts. They did so by publishing and distributing the White Rose papers throughout Germany and Austria during the summer of 1942 and the winter of 1943. They were apprehended and executed in 1943. All we know of the arresting officer is that at the last moment he tried to save their lives.

While The White Rose examines a very dark series of events, the play is infused with hope and gentle humor, challenging the audience to live lives of purpose and intention.

In her forward, author, Lillian Garrett-Groag, makes the following statement.

“We have all conveniently accustomed ourselves to consider 'evil' as originating elsewhere: other people (preferably mentally unbalanced, but if pathology were not readily provable, then at least foreign), other places (never here, never with us, never next door), other governments (never our own). Most importantly, great national catastrophes are usually ascribed to amorphous masses of people, never taking into account that said masses are composed of individuals who, at one point or another, must have had a moment of choice.”

The cast for The White Rose is:

Sophie Scholl--Sarah Hoback
Hans Scholl--Josh Ramsey
Alexander Schmorell--Colton Irwin
Christoph Probst--Rob Boldt
Wilhelm Graf--Adam Phillips
Robert Mohr--Dan Flahive
Anton Mahler--Robert Webster
Bauer--Zach Mackie
